Pioneer visits go virtual - Launch

To mark the anniversary of the opening of Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society Store on December 21st; the Co-operative Heritage Trust announces the launch of a new digital tour.

Are you a member of a Co-op, a social enterprise or even a B-Corp?

Would you like to know more about how and why working class people in Rochdale decided to start a new type of business, and how it became a successful model for co-operatives all over the world today?

The film, made with the Co-operative College and supported by the Co-operative News -  follows Payal Mistry on a journey from Rochdale to Manchester, to understand what makes co-operatives different. She finds out more about the values and principles of the movement and how they support communities all over the world.

You can download the film to buy or rent with subtitles from https://vimeo.com/ondemand/virtualpioneers2021

Renting this film directly benefits the Co-operative Heritage Trust –  a small independent charity looking after the records and original building which belonged to the Pioneers by contributing to the long term costs of preservation.

The film is an ideal introduction to the movement for new members, staff and partners who may not be able to easily make a visit in person.

You can follow up this film by booking digital heritage sessions with staff at the Trust, as well as learning opportunities and training with the Co-operative College or with Co-operatives UK.

Small community co-ops in the UK or developing nations can apply for a 50% discount, contact us at museum@heritagetrust for a discount code prior to renting the film.
