Hire our space

Hire Us

The Learning Loft on the second floor of the building can be hired by groups for meetings and private and corporate events from Monday to Saturday.

If you would like to hire the entire building for your event, this is now available for up to a week at a time.

Offering our building for hire in this way as a vital source of income for the Co-operative Heritage Trust. Small charities like ours receive no government funding and with the rising cost of goods and services, and having lost most of our income in the Covid-19 pandemic, we need to find new ways to protect and share our co-operative heritage.

You can hire our unique space at number 31 Toad Lane for your own event or training for up to a week at a time - just contact [email protected] for more information.

Capacity by layout style

Boardroom - 30

Classroom - 30

Cabaret seating - 35

Lecture seating - 50

To discuss prices, capacity information and provisions for a full building hire, please email
[email protected] directly.

Prices and availability

For a full price list including full, half day and hourly rates please download our brochure and email us to check availability. Please note that since October 2022 we increased our prices for hire and group delivery by 15%. This is to help cover the increase in operating costs incurred by the charity.

Our current information sheet - 2023 Brochure

Please email us to check availability and receive an up-to-date booking form. We require a booking form to be returned to us to secure dates.

We offer a reduced rate for charities booking with us.

Early access (before 9 am) and evening events (after 4 pm) will incur an additional charge for staffing provisions.

What's included

For groups booking a half-day (four hours) or full-day (9 am - 4 pm) hire, we include an introductory talk about the building and the heritage of the co-operative movement for up to 20 people. Additional numbers are charged at £4.50 per person.

We can provide flipcharts, pens, tea and coffee facilities and high quality projection and audio equipment for presentations (please request when booking).

Catering

We are happy for booking groups to arrange catering to be brought to the site as we cannot provide this in-house. If you would like us to arrange provision for a breakfast meeting, please contact us about this as well as with any allergy requirements in advance.

If you would like to arrange a lunch or evening meal for your party, please see our recommended providers in our brochure or contact The Baum Pub next door to the museum (extensive menu, real ales and an attractive garden to the rear).

The Baum Pub

The Learning Loft is supported by: AIM Hallmarks Funding

The Co-operative Heritage Trust is a member of the Association of Independent Museums (no- 2643) and gratefully acknowledges the Hallmarks grant awarded to help us achieve the improvements we have made to our hire space in 2019. This helps us to generate income into our museum to help us keep it free at source to our visitors from the local area, the UK and around the world.

*Please be aware that bookings at Rochdale Pioneers Museum are accepted at the discretion of the Managing Authority and may be declined if the nature of the booking is considered contrary to the aims and mission of the Trust.
